Springing into Beauty: Flawless Makeup Trends for Mature Skin in 2026

Spring is just around the corner, I hope! It brings with it a fresh wave of makeup trends that celebrate radiance and a more natural glow. I’m a firm believer that beauty is timeless; it's part of the reason I think I’m always in fashion (I choose to believe this is true 😊). Here are some exciting new trends that adapt perfectly to mature skin.

It’s finally time to say goodbye to heavy formulas and hello to luminous finishes, vibrant pops of colour (color), and techniques that enhance your natural beauty.

Here are some of the top Spring 2026 makeup trends that will have your mature skin looking and feeling fabulous.

1. The luminous skin renaissance

Spring 2026 is all about embracing a healthy, dewy complexion and moving away from matte, heaving foundations. This trend is a dream come true for mature skin, as it minimizes the appearance of fine lines and gives a plumper, more hydrated look.

Truthfully, it should be the standard for mature skin, no matter what the trend.

How to achieve it:

  • But first, prep: Start with a hydrating water-based primer to create a smooth canvas.
  • Lightweight foundations: Opt for cream foundations (which can give you both a BB cream finish and a heavier look for special occasions), tinted moisturizers, or BB creams with a luminous finish.
    • Bonjou Beauty pro tip: Apply sparingly and build coverage only where needed.
  • Cream blush and highlighter: Ditch powder products that can settle into lines. Cream formulas blend seamlessly, offering a natural flush and a soft, lit-from-within glow.
    • Bonjou Beauty pro tip: Apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and cream highlighter to the high points of your face.
  • Setting spray or mist: Finish with a hydrating setting spray or a mist to lock in your look and enhance the dewy effect.

Bonjou Beauty pro tip: Cream-based foundation, blush and highlighter blend together more seamlessly. For an extra boost of radiance, mix a drop of highlighter with your foundation before applying.

2. Soft focus eyes: ethereal and effortless

The dramatic cut crease is taking a backseat, making way for softer, more diffused eye looks. This trend emphasizes blending and subtle colour (color) transitions, which is incredibly flattering for mature eyes.

How to achieve it:

  • Neutral bases: Start with a light, neutral eyeshadow all over the lid to brighten and even out your skin tone.
  • Blended pastels and muted tones: Think dusty roses, soft peaches, subtle lavenders, and gentle greens. Apply these shades softly to the crease and outer corner, blending upwards for a lifted effect.
    • Bonjou Beauty pro tip: Use a cream eyeshadow so it doesn’t settle in creases like a powder does. Apply a shimmery champagne or rose gold eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes to brighten and open them up.
  • Smudged liner: Instead of harsh liquid liner, opt for an eyeliner pencil in a black, brown or deep grey, depending on your skin tone. Apply it along the lash line, then gently smudge it with a brush for a softer, more natural definition.
  • Volumizing mascara: Focus on separating and lengthening your lashes rather than adding heavy volume that can look clumpy.
  • Brow definition: Well-groomed brows frame the face beautifully. Use a brow cream to fill in sparse areas with short, hair-like strokes. If you use a cream instead of powder or pencil, you can usually skip the brow gel step.

3. Return of the radiant lip: Hydrated and bold

Bold, matte lips can sometimes be unforgiving on mature skin. Spring 2026 welcomes back hydrated, radiant lip looks that are comfortable to wear and beautifully enhance your smile.

How to achieve it:

  • Lip prep: Exfoliate gently and moisturize your lips thoroughly before applying any colour (color).
    • Bonjou Beauty DIY tip: If you don’t have an exfoliator, use a soft-bristle toothbrush to gently exfoliate. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager!
  • Sheer to medium coverage: Look for lipsticks or lip gloss with Vitamin E and a satin, cream, or glossy finish. These hydrate without emphasizing fine lines.
  • Vibrant yet wearable shades: Think coral, berry, rose, and even soft reds. The key is to choose shades that brighten your complexion without being overly stark.
  • Lip liner is your friend: Use a lip liner that matches your lip shade for a flatter look, or two shades darker for some depth. Liner defines the lip line and prevents colour from bleeding.
  • Make it shine: A touch of clear or tinted gloss in the center of your lips adds dimension and plumpness.

Bonjou Beauty pro tip: The barely there look is also in, so if you're hesitant about bold shade, try a tinted lip balm or a sheer lipstick in a vibrant shade for a subtle colour (color) pop or blot the lipstick you’re wearing, so that it’s a whisper of the shade. It's the look shown in the image.
